Allison's Arrival to Santo Domingo

12 de Octubre 2009.
Columbus Day. First night in Santo Domingo.

Lord, be my peace. Five minutes after I landed, I was told that all the stability I was expecting has shifted, and I need to find different housing, away from the University City. I laugh when I remember I was expecting stability…not with this company! Every day is a new adventure. I start researching the city in my Chevy Tracker tomorrow. I am sitting at my small table with a map as the table-cloth, and I am pouring over the new names, streets, barrios. Which ones are poor? Which ones have immigrant populations? Which ones have stable Christian presence? Which ones should I look for housing in? So many questions, so many unknowns.
“Lord, I don’t know all that lies before me, but I’m certain that the way will be along that path that leads into your Glory, where You will be, waiting for me. Lord, as I run to the end you must carry me.”
Thank you for the Sweet Surrender, SeƱor. The result of the promise of the Spirit is Peace. The louder and more confusing the world gets, the more my heart grows still.
Tonight, as my heart is overwhelmed, I speak with the Father.
“Lord! There is no Road!”
“I know, my child.”
“What then, shall we do?”
“You will make the Road…
By walking.”
