Today we head to Arequipa from Lampa, which will be about a six hour trip with all the stops and bus changes.
Arequipa is in another "state", what they call Departments, of Peru...so far, the Barnabus team has stayed in Lima, Cusco, Puno, and now to Arequipa. We are learning the customs and the traditions and the music of each, and when we have to say goodbye, it is a sad experience. We have enjoyed the teams, and have come to love the brothers and sisters in Christ in each pueblo.
Please `pray for our safe travels today, and for our stay in Arequipa with the ESL team there.
May Christ grow in every heart.
Today Justin and I climbed the Jesus mountain overlooking the city at 6 AM for our quiet time. It was beautiful.
I feel bathed in the Living waters.
The Lord gave me Robert Frost`s poem,
THE ROAD NOT TAKEN
as a promise for me today. Don`t laugh...the Lord can speak through poetry,....especially through this poem, which came to me at Highschool graduation and actually was the theme for my graduation speech. It has come again at a point of transition...and it is a little ambiguous, but I will be commenting on it later. I am called to the Road less traveled...and the Lord has promised blessing and peace to those who walk in His way...I don`t believe there is any wrong Choice in Christ. God´s will is a Box...safe pasture, boundary lines, but Freedom of choice. And The Lord told me this morning as I read Psalm 25 that I have a free choice about returning to NP or staying in Peru. Either path is beautiful and full of promise. There is no wrong choice...And that brings incredible PEACE. AMEN!
The Road Not Taken--Robert Frost
Two Roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
but be one traveler long I stood
and looked down one as far as I could
to where it bent in the undergrowth
The took the other, just as fair
though having perhaps the better claim
because it was grassy and wanted wear
though as for that the passing there
had worn them really about the same
And both that morning equally lay
in leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I Kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
somewhere ages and ages hence--
Two Roads diverged in a yellow wood, and I--
I took the road less traveled by
And that has made all the difference.

Alli,
I love that poem! and I too believe the Lord can speak through poetry. I truly believe whether you are at NPU or peru next Fall you will be just where you are supposed to be. I will miss you dearly for sure, but it would be selfish for me to not want you to stay in peru if that is where you belong. :) I Love you, and I know you will only make the decision based on the Lord. I pray for your time there, and your decision. :)
Peace always sister,
chrissy
I had that same revelation about a year ago. That new-found freedom showed me that I could look beyond what I thought were my limited options, and eventually led me here... and not to somewhere in the USA where I could beat my head against a wall and wonder why. That revelation also gave me a glimpse of love and concern that I'd never before seen or felt or understood.
By the way, I made tinga in your honor last night.
Alli, how long are you in Peru for? do you realize we are like 16 hours apart? I am prbly going to take a bus up to machu pichu towards the end of july/ begining of august. What would be the chance of you being around? It would be preaty cool to fellowship with some saints in Lima should it happen to work out. Anyways, let me know. I hope your having an amazing time, be found in the rivers of christ.
sorry, forgot I wasn´t logged in, this is Eric, by the way ;)
I would never laugh at a Robert Frost poem!
It is so awe-inspiring how the Lord leads us and that often choosing what seems so unknown ends up being the choice that changes our lives in ways we've never expected.
Angel and I want to take some roads less traveled soon. Pray for us!
Miss you.
By the way, I could use a mountain to climb right now...somewhere to just sit and soak in the Lord and all of His amazing goodness.
I lived in a city of millions, and I find it harder to get all alone here in a small town--how does that work?

Allison,
Hope all is well. The Lord brings you to mind frequently, so I have been praying for you.
Take care.
Me alegran y me dan ánimos tus experiencias.
