Dear Friends,
I have been reflecting on the Christ of the Gospels these past few days--the God-man who embraced the life of a humble servant and "camped among us for a little while." God in flesh...a God who touched the deepest part of humanity: our desperate need to be one with eternity, but more than that, the need to know that our history, our small place on this planet, is imbued with MEANING and LIFE....to know that our physical place, our dwelling here among men, in a particular time and place, is of eternal significance to the Creator of all Life, is to know Joy. "Take up your mat and walk..." the words Christ spoke to the paraplegic, are words that He not only speaks to us, but words that the church has been commanded to speak to a world scrambling to know God and falling so short. "Go and do likewise..." we are called to take on the very nature of Christ (Eph 4) and walk in His same power to redeem a hurting humanity back to the Father (Matt 28).
There are so many Biblical interpretations that would have us believe that this physical life is of no consequence in the flesh, that we are here only to await a heavenly kingdom. But the VERY ACT of GOD BECOMING MAN screams the opposite: The Kingdom is HERE in those who Believe and call on His name...the Kingdom is blossoming inside of us...and we have the joy and the privilege of joining Him in His Tikkun Olam...in His Healing of the Earth.
Amen

Hey Allison,
Ok, the questions:
1) Depends on what kinds of toiletries. Send me an e-mail with some examples. I would recommend you bringing your own, but if you run out, then you can buy some things here. They will be more expensive. 2) There is a large market here where you can buy all sorts of indigenous things. Villages will aslo have some things, but will be cheaper in Lima. 3) I think it is a lot of fun going to the movies with people the same age and that are all here for the samer purpose; however, if you don't like movies, then you don't have to go. It will be fun though!

My prayer for you as you traverse the miles for His glory.
Eph 1:15-19
"...when I heard of the solid trust you have in the Master Jesus and your outpouring of love to all the followers of Jesus, I couldn't stop thanking God for you—every time I prayed, I'd think of you and give thanks. But I do more than thank. I ask, ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory—to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for his followers, oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him—endless energy, boundless strength!"
